Revival
After years of neglect that left infrastructure deteriorating and visitor numbers dwindling, joint efforts from both public and private sectors are breathing new life into the area.
Key improvements include the beautification of public spaces, infrastructure upgrades and improved policing. There will also be a greater emphasis on rubbish collection and maintaining the area free of litter.
This transformation promises a brighter future for locals and tourists alike, fostering economic growth and creating a vibrant, welcoming community.
Police dedication
Below is a notice from the Police Commander (with images), detailing
their recent activities in support of this exciting project. These
efforts mark the beginning of their contribution toward achieving the
project’s goals.
All stakeholders are deeply appreciative of this renewed momentum. Managing large crowds is never easy, but progress has been made, and there’s hope that visitors will also play their part in maintaining order and supporting the efforts.

ASSUNTO: PROTEÇÃO, SEGURANÇA, FISCALIZARÇÃO, REGULAÇÃO E ORDENAMENTO DE TRÂNSITO RODOVIÁRIA E DE PEDESTRES NA PRAIA DE XAI-XAI
Saudações Excelentíssimo.
Cumpre-nos informar à V.Excia que no intervalo das 13h até 18h do dia
12.10.2024, a Polícia Municipal Municipal, em coordenação com a PRM e a
Polícia Marítima, garantiu a ordem, protecção e fiscalização na Praia de
Xai-Xai assim como, a retirada de todos vendedores informais para a
zona alta.
Igualmente e, de forma simultânea, a Brigada de Trânsito da Polícia
Municipal garantiu a Regulação de Trânsito rodoviária e de pedestres
para assegurar a livre e segurança mobilidade naquela zona.
De salientar que o trabalho decorreu num ambiente calmo e ordeiro.

XAI-XAI CITY MUNICIPAL POLICE COMMAND
SUBJECT: PROTECTION, SECURITY, SUPERVISION, REGULATION AND ORGANIZATION OF ROAD TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS ON XAI-XAI BEACH
Greetings Your Excellency.
We must inform Your Excellency that between 1pm and 6pm on 10/12/2024,
the Municipal Municipal Police, in coordination with the PRM and the
Maritime Police, guaranteed order, protection and supervision on Xai-Xai
Beach as follows: such as, the removal of all informal vendors to the
upper zone.
Likewise and simultaneously, the Municipal Police Traffic Brigade
guaranteed road and pedestrian traffic regulations to ensure free and
safe mobility in that area.
It is worth noting that the work took place in a calm and orderly environment.

Improvements and Investment Opportunities
The beachfront road stretching from Hally Hotel to Chongoene Beach has been graded, but will soon be redirected. Plans include rerouting the road through the entrance of Campismo, running it behind the campgrounds, and emerging at the private houses on the far end. This change will transform the Campismo campgrounds into prime beachfront property, free of a road obstructing beach access. The land will be divided into five plots, allowing investors the opportunity to build a resort that takes full advantage of the prime location, enhancing tourism potential in the area.
The yellow line on the image shows the new road with the numbers of the 'new' plots denoted thereon. The green line shows where the promenade will start and it will end at Ocean Star Restaurant.
The parking area opposite the old Xai-Xai Hotel is being cleaned. The informal traders will be moved to an area being cleared and cleaned behind the parking space. This aerial photo shows the areas involved. In the video you will see that the clean up process has begun.

- Funding was received to print the regulation signboards and stickers and they were delivered to the Praia Municipality on 14 December 2024.
